Microsoft may be unveiling the release candidate (RC) for its next operating system on 5 May, according to a website slip.The release candidate (RC) for Windows 7 could be made available as soon as 5 May, according to a slip-up on a Microsoft website Over the weekend, a Microsoft Partners site said Microsoft subscribers would be able to download the Windows 7 RC on 5 May, with subscribers to MSDN and TechNet downloading it immediately. At the time, the page reportedly read: "Partners: If you have a subscription to MSDN or TechNet, you can download Windows 7 RC now... Otherwise, you can download Windows 7 RC starting 5 May, 2009. "The general public usually gets download access shortly after MSDN and TechNet subscribers. A previous leak on a Russian TechNet site suggested the RC would arrive in May. A Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement to IT PRO : “The Windows 7 Release Candidate CPP download page briefly posted on the Microsoft Windows Partner Solution site page as part of the regular testing of Microsoft properties. "The spokesperson added: "Microsoft is currently in the development stages for Windows 7 and the specific release date of the next Windows 7 product milestone will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for the release.”Microsoft has previously said there would be just one beta, with the full version set for release by early 2010.
The Windows 7 beta has received positive reviews and Microsoft said it’s already being used full-time by millions of people.
