Alpha Protocol is a third person action role playing game published by Sega. The game moves around the new recruit of CIA field agent, Michael Thorton.
According to the game story, Michael Thorton decides to cut off from all of his contacts since the day he is betrayed by his superiors and being cast out by his government, which led his mission to go awry. Now, Thorton is the only person carrying the information that is needed to stop an impending international disaster.
In the gameplay, players take on the role of Thorton who is trained to handle various tools that include numerous firearms, hand-to-hand combats and spy gadgets. Apart from these action elements, Players can earn advancement points which can be added to any of the ten different skills. These skills will help Thorton to increase his ability to use certain weapons and grant different skills to him. One of the highlighting skills for Thorton is to scan a group of enemies in slow-motion before jumping out of cover and shooting each of them more quickly than his normal capability.
It’s important for the players to make wise decisions and take necessary actions in each mission, so that they can ultimately transform as the type of secret agent that Michael Thorton will become. Moreover, the players are allowed to choose different skills to advance, thereby allowing them to strengthen their play style.
At some stages during the gameplay, the RPG mechanics supports conversation, with Alpha Protocol's world full of smooth-talkers and double-crossers. In short, Alpha Protocol is one man’s fight against the superior forces.
