Alan Wake is a psychological action thriller video game developed by Remedy Entertainment. It is only the first title with a bigger story and expected to open the door for future sequels.
The story is about a horror writer, Alan who uses his dreams as a source for his work. His wife, Alice brings him to the Washington town of Bright Falls to recover his creative flow. But when she disappears without a trace and Alan finds himself being trapped in a nightmare. He got into a terrible sleeping disorder, since the day he lost his wife. In his nightmares, he can realize that it is his story that occupies his mind, but can’t remember his writings. It’s upto Alan to frame out the mystery, so that he can avoid himself from being trapped inside a nightmarish world forever.
As the story plays out in an episodic format, players will take the role of Alan who will explore a nightmarish world filled with missions, unique puzzles and put an extreme combat against the brutal enemies -- dark forces. As for the players, Light plays an important role in gameplay and strategy. The enemies are sensitive to light, which encourages the player to take advantage of environment light sources and can place significant belief on the flashlight as a primary weapon. Players also have the ability to set traps which light up when triggered, either damaging or temporarily disabling the enemies.
